5 things to learn from Virat Kohli..

This one name has literally ruled the mind of cricket fans for quite some time and as an Indian, it is a matter of sheer pride for entire country.

A chap, all of 27, the age at which more than a half of educated people in our country aren’t able to decide what they want to do, he is ruling the cricket charts.

Like so many cricket fans in our country, I too have followed his rise and there is no adjective left to describe for what he has achieved. And it’s not just what he has done; the important thing is how he has done and what he has become in the process.

While following him on and off the field, I could notice that there are few things, few qualities which are so endearing to his success that if they are adapted elsewhere as well, success is definite.

Madness:
This is just another word for ‘Passion’. Kohli has the passion for what he is doing and that is visible in the way he approaches his game. And mind you, for us it might be just a game, for him it’s his job and one can see how much he loves his job.

Respect:
There is this famous story about Kohli when he played a match in the morning when his father had died.

I recently came across an interview and I was just awestruck by what he said.
I called my coach in the morning... I told him this had happened and he was in shock as well. So he asked me what I wanted to do. I said I want to go and play because, you know, for me not completing in a cricket game was a sin.’

For most of us the moment we have even a small distraction in life, first thing is to leave whatever we are doing and start cribbing about a situation. Here is the reason, why one is successful and a billion other people just trying to manage between their job and home.

Commitment:
As far I can remember, all the successful people world ever had have always given special attention to this particular trait to become successful.
To commit ourselves for something during a single moment of adrenaline rush is one thing but to stay committed with what you’ve started takes a lot of courage and focus.

Virat Kohli just showed his commitment when he played a match in IPL with seven stiches in his left and still scored a century in a 15 over game.

You cannot do this until you are inherently committed to your goal. It has to be done at any cost and by any chance if it’s a choice, you don’t deserve that.

Consistency:
There are a number of world class batsmen in another cricket teams and even Indian cricket team as well but one thing which has set him apart from others is his consistency. He has scored against all the oppositions, across the formats in all kinds of situations.

It can’t be fluke. It’s a result of consistent effort which world doesn’t see.
As they say- People are rewarded in public for what they practice in private
for years.’

Hunger to outgrow himself:
This one thing is the most important phenomenon in any person’s success as most of the people keep competing with others. That’s the worst thing one can do to oneself. There is only one way one can succeed in life and that is being one step ahead of himself/herself every day.

Every time Virat Kohli comes to bat and we think that now what. We have seen everything a batsman can do and every time he does something we can’t help but marvel at it. That’s the hallmarks of a legend.

He is already a legend in his own sense and a role model for a billion of people across the world and if at all, one can emulate even 10% of what he stands for, there is little doubt why one can’t be a legend in what one is doing.
