What is stopping us to do what we want to?

Albert Einstein, Thomas Edison, Newton, Picasso, Mahatma Gandhi, Rani Lakshmi Bai…..Ever heard of these names before?

What a joke, right?

These are the names all of us have heard of umpteen numbers of time since our childhood. I have also heard but every time I thought about them, there was some godly respect about them as if they themselves were God.

For me, these legends and a number of others present a different era of humanity, an era when humans were like God. Were they? Really?

I mean they gave us some of the great things we enjoy in our lives today so they must be somewhere close to God only. I grew up under same assumption until I tried to get myself familiar with the so called Gods.

I studied about their life, their struggle, their failures and finally their success. More I studied about them, more I got to understand them better. I mean until then it never ever occurred to me that how Gandhi would have behaved when he was young or how Edison would have been in his early days. I mean, they didn’t become old overnight like we have seen them all along in the photos. They had a childhood like us, they had adulthood, and they had their share of struggles like all of us. Then how could they hover around in our minds as if they are nothing sort of a God.

Actually they are not God. They were just like us, a mortal human. What set them apart are their deeds, their dreams, their courage, their failures and their success. They also had the kind of life we are having, they also faced same challenges, they were also worn down but they never gave up.

In our generation also we have few people who would attain God like status for future generations like Steve Jobs, APJ Abdul Kalam, Bill Gates to name a few. These are the men who have given the world a new dimension; they have changed the course of the world. And I am sure they are not the last ones to do so.

Our society is ever evolving and so are its challenges. Someone would always keep stepping up to take the world in a new direction and would attain God like status for generations to come.

The question here is that when these people can do something like that to make the world a better place, what stops others to do that. Everyone has got same set of hands, legs, same body like these people have. In fact some of us may not be having that kind of life or issues which they had to deal with. But they dealt with them as well and completed what they started off.

They also had same society to deal with, in fact more orthodox than ours. They also had money issues, family issues and what not. What they didn’t have was an “I” who was stopping them to do that.
